#5 BORROW YOUR ANSWER – (Hint: you’ve had it all along)

(52 Simple Ways to Breakthrough Living)

Borrow answers from someone you admire, respect, follow.

This is a good little quick fix tool to snap us out of our stuck state and get us moving forward again….or for when we need a little motivated push to forge something new we have been wanting to achieve.

CHALLENGE

We get snared in our own web of frustration, sadness, indecision, direction, insecurity… Round and round in a rut we go. Just not able to shake it off or let it go. Or afraid we’ll fail so we do…nothing…we stall.

GAMECHANGER

Whereas we really would like someone else to just give us the answer (right?) Good news! That “somebody else” answer is already inside of your mind. This is how you know…

  • Think of someone you respect, admire, trust. In your mind, pose the challenge to them and imagine what they would do, what would they say, how would they feel in this situation?
  • Whatever the very first answer that comes to your mind…BORROW IT.. No cheating. Not the 2nd or 3rd. Not after you try and think it out….  The very first answer that comes to mind.
  • BORROW IT. Act on that. No questions asked. BORROW their strength – pretend you are them. BORROW those words – have them come out of your mouth. BORROW and apply that decision …their choice that came immediately to mind.

Example: I admired my mother…in many ways…but…most of all….as an unconditional loving mother. She has long passed. However, in moments when I get stuck in motherhood 🙂 ….I imagine….”what would Mom do”, “what would she say” and the first thing that comes to mind I BORROW. I do it. I move on.

I have borrowed courage from Eleanor Roosevelt,  bold answers from Steve Jobs, borrowed inspiration from philanthropist Percy Ross….even borrowed my daughter’s fierceness. The list goes on. I imagine what would they do….and I borrow it as my own decision.

RESULTS

Try it. We already have the answer within. Simply by approaching from a different perspective…we are actually calling on our own subconscious for the references and clarity we already have.  When we BORROW and apply that wisdom, that bravery, that relief , we move on and now it is a part of us. …and always ours to keep!

PS I have borrowed so much from my mother….blessed me, I have grown to even look like her!
